Before we jump into the second thing you can do to beat overwhelm, let’s quickly recap the first one (if you missed it, make sure to catch up on it!). The first thing you need to do is create a daily system or routine. This helps you set up your day in a way that aligns with your goals. When you have a routine, you’re not just reacting to life—you’re proactively creating the life you want.
Now, let’s talk about the second game-changer: using the power of fifteen minutes.
What if I told you that you could start building your dream business by dedicating just fifteen minutes a day? Yes, just fifteen minutes! It sounds almost too simple, right? But that’s exactly what I did, and let me tell you, it worked wonders.
In 2022, I found myself in a tough place. I was exhausted, drained, and struggling to keep up with my daily tasks. It felt like everything was moving at lightning speed, and I was just barely keeping up. I was running on empty, and it wasn’t until I took a step back and listened to what I truly needed that I discovered the power of those tiny pockets of time. I call it the “power of fifteen minutes,” and it became my secret weapon for overcoming overwhelm.
Here’s the deal: in today’s fast-paced world, everything is moving at breakneck speed. Social media bombards us with images of people doing it all—fast, efficiently, and effortlessly. But what if you could do something meaningful in less time? That’s exactly what fifteen minutes can do for you.
Fifteen minutes is short enough that it doesn’t feel like a huge commitment. It’s manageable. It’s bite-sized. And it’s powerful when used consistently. So how does it work?
The idea is simple: spend just fifteen minutes every day working on something that’s important to you, something that moves you closer to your goal of starting your business.
When I first started using this method, I applied it to everything that mattered to me—my morning routine, my Bible study time, my quiet moments with God, and even the tasks I needed to tackle for my business. Everything was limited to fifteen minutes. Why? Because those fifteen minutes became my lifeline to productivity.
Here’s how you can start using the power of fifteen minutes:
Now, you might be thinking, “Fifteen minutes? That’s not enough time to get anything done!” But here’s the thing—fifteen minutes every day adds up over time. Think about it: if you commit to working on your business for just fifteen minutes a day, that’s 105 minutes a week. That’s over an hour and a half. If you keep this up for a month, you’ve put in over 4 hours of focused work on your dream business.
The key is consistency. The more you show up, even for just a short amount of time, the more progress you’ll make. It’s like casting votes for the person you want to become. Every time you spend those fifteen minutes working toward your dream, you’re casting a vote for your future self—the successful entrepreneur you’re becoming.
One of the best things about the power of fifteen minutes is that once you get into the habit, it becomes easier and easier. In the beginning, you might find yourself getting distracted or wanting to work longer. But stick with it. The more you do it, the more natural it becomes. And soon, you’ll be looking forward to your fifteen-minute sessions, knowing that each one is a step closer to your dream business.
As you continue to use this method, you’ll notice your productivity skyrocketing. You’ll start to feel less overwhelmed and more in control of your time. And before you know it, you’ll have a fully developed business plan, a website, and even customers—without ever having to spend hours at a time working.
Let’s say Jackie wants to start a business baking cupcakes. She’s heard about the power of fifteen minutes and wants to apply it to her business idea. Here’s how she might use it:
By the end of the month, Jackie will have made significant progress on her business, all thanks to those small, consistent fifteen-minute sessions.
I know it can be tempting to think that if you don’t block out hours to work on your business, you won’t get anywhere. But remember this: small beginnings can lead to big things. In fact, sometimes the small, consistent efforts are the most powerful ones.
I once heard a quote that said, “It’s the nature of God to do big things starting small.” This is exactly what the power of fifteen minutes is all about. You don’t need to do it all in one go. You just need to show up every day, even for a short amount of time, and trust that those little moments of effort will add up.
To beat overwhelm and create time for your dream business, start by using the power of fifteen minutes. Spend just fifteen minutes a day working on something that’s important to you. It might be a business idea, a project, or even a habit you want to build. Whatever it is, commit to showing up every day, setting your timer, and focusing for just fifteen minutes. You’ll be amazed at how much progress you can make.
So, what’s your next fifteen-minute session going to look like? I’d love to hear about it!
