Hello friend! Can you believe we’re already in August? If you’re in the U.S., I hope you’re enjoying the summer sun. And if it’s not summer where you are, I hope you’re finding time to rest and recharge anyway.
As we move into the second half of the year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how far we’ve come and set our sights on what’s ahead. I just want to take a moment to thank you for being here with me. Whether you’ve been following my journey since the beginning or just found me recently, I’m so grateful for you.
This summer has been a whirlwind for me! With my kids out of school and family visiting from out of town, my schedule has been anything but calm. But even with the chaos, I managed to stay on track with my coaching business. How did I do it? I’m about to share the five key things that kept me grounded and focused during this busy season. So grab your favorite drink, find a comfy spot, and let’s dive in!
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a mom and business owner is that every season of life requires a different approach. Summer isn’t the time for me to launch big projects or take on extra commitments. Instead, I set a realistic and achievable vision for my business based on what I knew my schedule would look like.
For me, that meant focusing on showing up for my audience consistently. I didn’t plan any major new offerings or launches—I simply committed to delivering valuable content each week. That way, I could keep my business moving forward without overwhelming myself.
Setting a season-appropriate vision allowed me to balance my business with the added responsibilities of summer. I encourage you to do the same! Look at your schedule, acknowledge your limitations, and set a vision that aligns with your current season.
Once I had my vision in place, I took a hard look at my time. Summer comes with so many moving parts—kids’ activities, family visits, and unexpected interruptions—so I needed a game plan.
I started by assessing how much time I actually had available for work. My son started his first job and driving lessons, which meant I had to factor in drop-offs and pick-ups. Once I knew what I was working with, I prioritized my tasks accordingly.
To stay organized, I used time blocking—a simple method of dividing my day into dedicated work and family time. My morning was for personal routines and self-care, the afternoon was for business work, and the evenings were for family. Time blocking helped me make the most of my work hours without neglecting my family responsibilities.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try time blocking! It’s a great way to create structure while allowing flexibility for life’s inevitable surprises.
Communication is key, especially when juggling family life and business. I made sure my family knew my work schedule and also made room for their needs.
I told them, “Hey, from this time to this time, I’m working on my business. But after that, I’m all yours!” This helped set clear expectations and reduced interruptions. At the same time, I made sure to be flexible—I knew that summer would bring unexpected errands, doctor’s appointments, and last-minute plans.
I also encouraged my family to communicate their schedules with me. My son gave me his work shifts and driving lesson times in advance, which helped me plan around them. This two-way communication helped everything run smoother and prevented last-minute stress.
When time is limited, you have to make every minute count. That’s why I made sure to tackle my most important tasks during my dedicated work hours.
For me, the priority was keeping up with my podcast. I knew my audience counted on me to show up each week, so I made it a non-negotiable part of my schedule. Instead of recording episodes one at a time, I batch-recorded them all at once. This saved me time and ensured I stayed ahead of schedule.
I highly recommend identifying the one or two key tasks that will move your business forward and focusing on them first. Avoid getting caught up in busy work—stick to what truly matters!
Moms, listen up: you can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. This summer, I made self-care a priority so I could show up as my best self for my family and business.
Here’s what my self-care routine looked like:
If you’ve been running on empty, take a step back and ask yourself: How can I refill my cup this week? Your business (and your family) will thank you for it.
This summer was one for the books! With my son learning to drive, starting his first job, and my parents visiting after three years, it was a season filled with joy and beautiful memories. And thanks to these five strategies, I was able to stay on track in my coaching business without feeling overwhelmed.
Here’s a quick recap of what worked for me:
If you’re in a busy season right now, I hope these tips help you find balance, productivity, and peace. Remember, there is a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Give yourself permission to embrace the season you’re in and trust that God has already equipped you with everything you need.
