Hey there! Can you believe it? We made it to the end of 2023! That in itself is something to be grateful for. But beyond that, this year has been a special one. It marks one whole year since I took a leap of faith and started this journey of creating content. One year of podcasting, one year of sharing, one year of growth. And let me tell you—answering the call to create has been one of the most transformational experiences of my life.
Maybe you’ve felt it too—that pull, that whisper, that persistent feeling that you’re meant to create something. Maybe it’s a business, a podcast, a blog, a coaching program, or even a book. But then doubt creeps in. You start overthinking. You wonder if anyone will care, if you have what it takes, or if you’ll run out of ideas. I get it, because I’ve been there.
But let me share something with you: stepping into your calling, answering that nudge to create, can be the most life-changing decision you ever make. And today, I want to walk you through five things you can do to finally answer the call to create.
So, grab your favorite drink and settle in, because this is going to be good.
This might sound scary, but it’s actually the most freeing step. You have to surrender your fears, your doubts, and your worries. Stop fighting that feeling, because if you’ve been feeling called to create for a while now, chances are, it’s not going away.
I remember when I first felt the call to start my podcast. It was December 2022, and I was sitting in church when the pastor said, “There’s someone here who has been feeling led to start something before the year ends.” Instantly, I knew he was talking about me. I had been feeling the nudge to start a podcast for months, but I kept making excuses.
“Oh, I don’t have the right voice.”
“I have an accent.”
“What if no one listens?”
But in that moment, I decided to surrender. I told God, “I don’t know how this will turn out, but I’m trusting You.” And here I am today, celebrating one year of podcasting. If I hadn’t surrendered, I would have missed out on this amazing journey.
So, if you feel the call to create, let go of the excuses. Surrender them and take the first step.
Surrendering is about letting go of fear. Submitting is about giving your plans over to God.
You probably have ideas, a vision, or even a timeline for how you think your journey should go. But have you considered that maybe there’s a better way?
When I started my podcast, I had a name in mind. But deep down, I felt uneasy about it. It was too long, and it didn’t sit right with me. I talked to my husband, and he confirmed my feelings. Instead of forcing it, I submitted the idea to God and asked for direction. That’s how the perfect name came to me.
Sometimes, we hold onto our plans so tightly that we don’t allow space for something better. But if you’re willing to submit your ideas, your vision, and your timeline, you’ll be amazed at how things align in ways you never imagined.
Once you surrender and submit, the next step is to accept. Accept God’s process, His plans, and His timing.
This one is tough, especially in a world that moves fast. When you see others building, growing, and succeeding, it’s easy to compare. But trust that your journey is uniquely yours.
When I started my podcast, I wanted to monetize it right away. But the instruction I received was to focus on creating content consistently for a year before offering any services. That wasn’t what I had in mind, but I accepted the process. And looking back, I see why it was necessary.
There’s a process to everything. Accepting that process instead of rushing through it will make your journey much more fulfilling.
This might be the hardest part, but it’s the most rewarding. Once you’ve surrendered, submitted, and accepted, the only thing left to do is to show up.
When I first started podcasting, I had no listeners. Zero. But I kept showing up. Today, my podcast has over 5,400 downloads, 450 monthly listeners, and has been heard in 78 countries. But none of that would have happened if I had quit when it felt like no one was listening.
Showing up consistently builds trust. It shows your audience (and yourself) that you’re committed. Even when it feels like no one is paying attention, keep going. Because one day, you’ll look back and be amazed at how far you’ve come.
When you answer the call to create, it’s not just about what you’re creating—it’s about who you’re becoming in the process.
One year ago, I was afraid of putting myself out there. Today, I’m more confident, disciplined, and consistent than I’ve ever been. The process of creating has changed me in ways I never expected.
The same will happen for you. But only if you stay open to growth. Be willing to learn, adapt, and evolve.
If you’ve been feeling that nudge to create, this is your sign to finally go for it. Whether it’s starting a business, launching a podcast, writing a book, or sharing your story—now is the time.
Don’t let fear hold you back. Surrender. Submit. Accept. Show up. Stay open to growth.
A year from now, you’ll be so grateful you took the first step.
So, what’s that one thing you’ve been putting off? Let this be the day you finally say yes to the call to create.
