If you’re new to my blog, welcome, and thank you so much for stopping by. My first blog post was an introduction of myself to my audience. If you missed Part 1 of this blog series, you can catch up here.
Let’s dive into the next 10 questions.
11. How do you get over disappointments and discouragements?
Disappointments and discouragements used to bring my life to a grinding halt. But not anymore. I’ve dealt with a lot of rejection, low self-esteem, and setbacks. Moving on was always an arduous task. In recent years, I realized my mindset played a huge part in how I perceived and dealt with setbacks.
After reading the book “Mindset” by Carol Dweck I became aware of my fixed mindset and how it held me back from overcoming setbacks. A fixed mindset says it’s the end of the world, you’re the reason why this happened, and so on.
I began my journey to a growth mindset and the difference has been night and day. A growth mindset tells me setbacks are opportunities to learn and improve. When I experience a setback, I ask myself what/how can I learn and improve. Instead of asking why did this happen to me? I still feel the pain and hurt from setbacks but I’m able to heal and move on faster with a growth mindset.
12. What sports do you play/have you played?
Soccer, Track & Field (I love running 400m, 800m, and Relay), and High Jump. I was very athletic in high school. I was also part of the school Track & Field team. I still play women’s soccer when my schedule allows. I work out and run more often.
13. iPhone or Android? Digital or Paper Girl?
I’m an iPhone kind of girl. I’m so sorry Andriod lovers! I love everything digital but my love for paper is stronger. I love writing on paper and reading hardcover books. It stimulates my thoughts. I’m a digital and paper girl (40/60 split). My latest paper product brand is @notiqbrand. I love all things Notiq, especially their planners. You should check it out.
14. Do you have people you look up to and why?
Yes, I have people I look up to like coaches, mentors, peers, mentees, and my family. I realized in life you can learn from anyone if you have an open mind. I’m committed to learning and improving so I surround myself with people that make me a better person. I’m not a self-made woman. I’m standing on the shoulders of so many great men and women who have helped me along the way.
15. What is one word that describes your personality?
Thoughtful.
16. How many countries have you visited?
7 – UK, Ghana, Nigeria, US, France, Amsterdam, UAE. I love traveling. I do a lot of local trips within Texas with my family these days. I’ve also visited at least 8 states in the US – Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California.
17. What other things do you like doing apart from being an entrepreneur?
I love organizing, creating content, and hosting guests on short visits. I also enjoy reading and planning surprise parties. Becoming a Professional Organizer was a thing for me at some point. I also dream of owning a boutique hotel that caters to guests on short visits. I love all things personalization and attention to detail.
18. Do you always practice everything you teach?
No. That’s one of the reasons I started this blog – to help me practice more. I’ve observed that external accountability is a huge catalyst for me to practice what I teach. When I know I’m accountable to an audience, it helps me stay on the grind.
19. What do you like to do for fun?
I love eating and watching movies when I have some downtime either at home or at a Movie Theater/Grill. A Movie Theater/Grill is a combination of a full-service restaurant and a movie theater. That’s my favorite place! #nojudgement.
20. When was a time you thought you could not do something but got up and did it?
I didn’t think I could launch this blog with my already busy schedule. My service-based business is very intensive. Think of an Amazon fulfillment center. I decided to take small steps every day with 15mins here and 1hr there. Today, you’re reading this post. My role model Marie Forleo always says “Start before you’re ready”. You’ll never be ready to start anything in life. Sometimes you have to get up and do it and stick with it long enough to achieve success. I’ll continue to take one step at a time.
If you’re reading this it means you made it to the end of the 20 questions. Yay! You must be into me. Lol!
I’m excited to unpack more conversational, relevant, and practical content as we go into the new year.
Now, it’s my turn to get to know you better. Do we have anything in common? Did any of my answers pick your interest? Do you have a question you want me to answer?
