Hey there! Can you believe we’re already in December? The holiday season is here, and that means 2024 planners and calendars are popping up everywhere. It’s that time of the year when we start thinking about our goals and making big plans for the new year.
But let’s be honest—how many of those plans actually become reality? If you’re anything like me, you start the year with excitement, set your goals, maybe even buy a fancy planner or take a course on goal-setting, and then… somewhere along the way, those goals get lost in the shuffle. And that’s frustrating!
So, if you want to be more consistent in achieving your business goals next year, you need more than just a plan—you need an execution system. Because here’s the truth: You don’t rise to the level of your goals; you fall to the level of your systems.
Today, let’s talk about how to create an execution system that helps you stop feeling frustrated and start seeing real progress in your business.
A system is simply a set of steps or processes that help you achieve a specific outcome. Think about getting your kids ready for school. There’s a system for that: wake them up, get them dressed, serve breakfast, and walk them to the bus stop. That’s a system! It ensures that no matter how tired or distracted you are, your kids still get to school on time.
Your business needs systems, too. Without an execution system, your goals will just be dreams on paper.
Before you even think about execution, you need to break your goals down into small, actionable steps. Here’s how:
For example, let’s say your goal is to launch a website for your business. Instead of writing down “Build a website”, break it down like this:
Each of these steps is small enough that you can take action without feeling overwhelmed.
You can have the best plans in the world, but if you don’t schedule time to execute them, they’ll never happen.
Look at your weekly schedule and block out dedicated time for working on your business goals. Whether it’s an hour every morning before work or a few hours on the weekend, commit to it like you would a meeting with a client.
For example, I schedule 7 AM – 9 AM every day as my “business growth” time. During that time, I focus solely on executing my plans.
If you’re a faith-driven entrepreneur, this step is crucial.
After planning and scheduling, take your plans to God in prayer. Ask for clarity, guidance, and the discipline to stay committed. When you align your business with God’s plan, you’ll have more peace and confidence in the journey.
This is where the magic happens. Consistency is key.
You can have the best systems in place, but if you don’t show up and put in the work, nothing will change. Set reminders, remove distractions, and create an environment that helps you stay focused.
Each week, take time to reflect on your progress. Ask yourself:
If you realize that the time you scheduled for work is constantly being interrupted, adjust it. If a step in your system isn’t working, tweak it. An execution system isn’t set in stone—it’s meant to evolve!
If you struggle with motivation, find someone to keep you accountable.
Knowing that someone will check in on your progress can be a huge motivator. Accountability pushes you to follow through.
Right now, my goal is to finish my dream planning course by November 30th. Here’s how my execution system looks:
As we head into 2024, don’t just set goals—build an execution system. That’s how you’ll actually achieve them.
If you follow these steps, you’ll be amazed at how much progress you’ll make in your business. No more frustration, no more feeling stuck—just consistent action and real results!
Now, go ahead and start building your execution system. Your 2024 goals are waiting for you!
