Have you started creating a vision for the New Year??
Hey there! Can you believe we’re wrapping up another year? Time flies, doesn’t it? I hope you had a fantastic Christmas celebration filled with love, laughter, and some good food. And of course, I hope you didn’t shop too much—because we all know January bills can be a little unforgiving!
With just a few days left in the year, I want to share the third and final thing I’m doing to prepare for the new year. If you’ve been following along, you’ll remember that the first thing I focused on was reflecting on the current year and seeking God’s direction in prayer. The second was reviewing and updating my systems. Now, for the final piece of the puzzle: Creating a vision for 2024 using the Dream Planning Journal.
Vision gives direction. It helps you stay focused and intentional with your time, energy, and resources. Without a vision, it’s easy to drift through the year without a clear sense of purpose. But when you write it down and commit it to prayer, you create a roadmap for your year—one that aligns with God’s plan for your life.
This year, I felt a strong nudge to use a faith-based approach to vision planning, and that’s how I found the Dream Planning Journal. This journal has been a game-changer, and I’m excited to share how it’s shaping my 2024 vision.
Before you can plan ahead, you need to look back. The journal walks you through a reflection process, where you:
This part is so powerful because it forces you to pause and acknowledge how far you’ve come. It also helps you move forward with clarity, knowing what worked and what needs to change.
Planning isn’t just about setting goals; it’s about creating systems that help you follow through. The journal includes a section for crafting a schedule that aligns with your goals.
Here’s what this looks like in action:
By creating a schedule that supports my goals, I’m setting myself up for success instead of leaving things to chance.
A vision board is a visual representation of what you want to achieve. It keeps your goals in front of you, reminding you of what you’re working toward. The Dream Planning Journal actually guides you through creating one, which I love!
Here’s how I’m making mine:
The key is to make it a faith-filled vision board, not just a wish list. As I put it together, I pray over each goal, asking God for wisdom, guidance, and alignment with His plan for my life.
One of the most beautiful aspects of this journal is the final step: surrendering your vision to God. It’s easy to get caught up in our own plans, but at the end of the day, Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”
I take time to pray over my plans, trusting that God will open the right doors and close the wrong ones. I release any pressure to make things happen on my own and choose to walk in faith instead.
So, the third thing I’m doing to prepare for the new year is creating a vision for 2024 using the Dream Planning Journal. This process includes:
I encourage you to take some time before the new year begins to create your own vision. Whether you use the Dream Planning Journal or a simple notebook, the important thing is to be intentional about what you want to accomplish and how you’ll pursue it.
Take this season to pray, plan, and prepare—so that when January comes, you’re stepping into the year with clarity and confidence.
