ep 25 Hey, sis! Let’s talk about something real today.
Have you ever felt like you were called to do something amazing—like start your own business—but the fear of failing in front of everyone just won’t let you move forward? If so, you’re not alone. I recently got a question from someone who’s been a certified bookkeeper for seven years. She has a deep desire to start her own bookkeeping service business, but the fear of public failure is holding her back. And I totally get it.
The fear of failing in front of others? Oh, it’s real. But guess what? You don’t have to let it stop you.
So today, we’re diving deep into how you can push past that fear and start walking in your purpose with confidence. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that’s your thing), get comfy, and let’s chat!
Let’s be honest—fear is a liar. It tells you that if you fail, your life is over. That people will laugh. That you’ll be embarrassed. But none of that is true.
One of the first things I did when I faced the fear of public failure was to pray about it. I literally told Jesus, “I’m scared of failing in front of everyone. Please help me.” And you know what? He did. Every time fear crept in, I leaned on His Word.
A verse that helped me was Deuteronomy 31:6:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
That verse reminded me that I wasn’t alone. Even if things didn’t go as planned, God was still with me. And He’s with you too.
So if you’re feeling stuck because of fear, talk to Jesus about it. He already knows, but when you surrender that fear to Him, you’ll find the strength to move forward.
This one was a game-changer for me.
Somewhere along the way, we were taught that failure is bad—that if you fail, it means you’re not good enough. But that’s not true at all. Failure is actually a GOOD thing because it teaches you lessons that success never could.
Think about it:
There’s a quote by Winston Churchill that I love:
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Failure isn’t the end—it’s just part of the process. Every successful entrepreneur has failed at something. The key is to learn from it and keep going.
Fear is like a big, mean bully. It tries to intimidate you and keep you from doing what you’re meant to do. But here’s what I’ve learned about bullies: When you stand up to them, they back off.
When fear is telling you not to start that business, the best thing you can do is take action anyway. Even if it’s a small step, just move forward.
Here are some ways you can do that:
Action kills fear. The more you move, the quieter fear becomes.
If the fear of public failure is stopping you from launching your bookkeeping business (or any business), here’s what to do:
Sis, you’ve got this. That business you’ve been dreaming about? It’s time to start.
Yes, fear will try to hold you back, but you don’t have to listen. You are more than capable, and God has already equipped you with everything you need to succeed.
So take that first step. Then the next. And the next. Before you know it, you’ll look back and realize fear never had power over you—it only had the illusion of power.
If this post encouraged you, share it with a friend who needs a little push to start their business too. And if you have a question about starting or growing a service-based business, drop it in the comments or send it to me—I’d love to help!
