Are you ready to streamline your focus and gain clarity to start your online service-based business without overwhelm? If you’re tired of struggling with self-doubt, a lack of direction, or the fear of public failure, this is for you.
With a renewed mindset and a clear plan, you can launch a business that fulfills your calling and makes a profit—without burning out. Here’s how to do it in five simple steps.
The first thing to consider is your current season in life. Ask yourself, “How much time do I have to dedicate to this business right now?” and *”What’s the most practical way for me to get started?”
For example, if you’re working a 9-to-5 or managing a packed schedule, you might opt for a simpler launch path like the service-first path, where you focus solely on providing one or two services. Alternatively, if you have a bit more flexibility, you could choose the audience-first path, where you begin by building an audience through consistent content creation (think blogging, podcasting, or vlogging).
The key is to pick a path that works for you right now. Don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to do everything at once.
An MVB is your minimum viable business. Think of it as the simplest version of your business that provides value to your customers.
For instance, your MVB could be offering just one service that solves a specific problem for your target audience. Or, if you’re taking the audience-first path, it might mean launching a blog or social media channel and consistently sharing helpful content.
Once you’ve defined your MVB, set a realistic launch date. A deadline creates urgency and keeps you accountable. To help you figure out your MVB, download my Business Clarity Blueprint—a handy tool packed with questions to guide you in identifying the essentials for your business.
Now that you know your MVB and launch date, it’s time to break it down into actionable steps. Your launch list should include everything you need to do to bring your MVB to life.
For example, if you’re starting with the service-first path, your list might look like this:
On the other hand, if you’re taking the audience-first approach, your list might include:
Keeping your list focused on essentials will help you avoid overwhelm.
Launching a business can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it all alone. Consider hiring one-time help for tasks that you’re unfamiliar with or don’t have time for. This could include:
Remember, investing in some help now can save you time and energy, allowing you to focus on the bigger picture.
Accountability is key to staying on track. You can join a business community, partner with an accountability buddy, or hire an accountability coach to help you stick to your goals.
Having someone check in on your progress can make all the difference in ensuring you meet your launch date and follow through on your plans. Plus, it’s always encouraging to connect with others who are on a similar journey.
Let’s quickly recap the five steps:
By focusing on these steps, you can launch your business without the overwhelm. Remember, you don’t have to do everything at once. Start small, stay consistent, and give yourself grace as you grow.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” When you focus on your MVB and keep things simple, you make the process easier and more enjoyable. So take that first step, trust the process, and watch your vision come to life.
