Two years ago, in December 2022, during the first Sunday service of the month, I had an encounter that changed everything for me. My husband was preaching, and his words struck a chord. He spoke about people who knew God had called them to start something before the year ended. He encouraged them to act without delay. As he spoke, I felt a deep conviction. The Holy Spirit nudged me, reminding me of something I’d been procrastinating—starting a podcast. I thought to myself, “Oh Lord, did you have to call me out today?”

When my husband finished his sermon, he invited those who felt called to step forward. I stood at the altar and made a commitment: “God, if you help me, I’ll launch this podcast in four weeks.” After the service, I spoke to one of my pastors, asking for prayer and agreement in faith. That moment marked the beginning of an intense, focused journey.

Back at home, I pulled out my notebook and started planning. I had previously purchased a podcast course but hadn’t finished it. Now, it was time to take action. Over the next four weeks, I recorded my first episodes, created my jingle, prepared my intro, and finalized all the essentials. By December 31, 2022, I launched my podcast to the glory of God.

Fast forward to today—two years later—and I’m celebrating a milestone. It’s been two years of showing up every week, recording episodes, and sharing encouragement, practical tips, and godly wisdom to help others start their service-based businesses. Reflecting on this journey, I’ve learned two key lessons:

Lesson 1: Every Big Thing Starts Small

When I began, it was easy to feel discouraged. Starting from zero can be daunting, especially when you compare yourself to others who are far ahead. But as I’ve taught my kids during our Saturday Bible study sessions, progress with God is always in an ascending order. Proverbs 4:18 says, “The path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day.”

The early days of my podcast were humble. My first step was publishing a 60-second teaser about the podcast’s mission. Then came my first, second, third, and fourth episodes. Today, I’m recording episode 95. What began with zero downloads has grown to over 10,000 downloads from listeners in 78 countries. From zero monthly listeners, I now reach 400 to 500 people each month. It’s a testament to the fact that small beginnings are where big things take root. Every big podcast or business you see started small.

Lesson 2: You’re Making an Impact, Acknowledged or Not

During a recent event, a woman approached me and said she recognized me from my podcast and Instagram videos. Though she had never left a comment or review, she shared how much my content had blessed her. Her words were a powerful reminder that even when feedback is scarce, lives are being touched.

Sometimes, it’s easy to measure success by likes, comments, or reviews. But those metrics don’t tell the whole story. I’ve learned to focus on the impact rather than the accolades. Knowing that my content reaches and transforms lives is motivation enough to keep showing up.

Moving Forward

As we approach the end of 2024, I want to encourage you to step into 2025 with renewed purpose. God has placed a dream or business idea on your heart for a reason. Don’t let fear or self-doubt hold you back. Partner with the Holy Spirit and take that first step of faith. Just as my podcast started small and grew over time, your journey will unfold as you remain faithful.
