Have you ever heard the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers”? Well, let me tell you, in my first service-based business, April didn’t just bring showers—it brought a full-blown storm! I was hit with battles from all directions, and there were moments I honestly thought I wouldn’t make it through.
But guess what? I did. And it wasn’t by my own strength. It was by standing firm on God’s word, leaning into my identity in Christ, and holding onto three powerful truths that the Holy Spirit reminded me of. So, grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let’s talk about how God brought me through one of the toughest seasons in my business.
For a little background, my first service-based business is an e-commerce logistics company that helps customers outside the U.S. with shipping and shopping services. It’s been running for a while now, and if you’ve been around here long enough, you know I love sharing how God has guided my entrepreneurial journey. But let me tell you, last April? Whew! It was a test like no other.
Everything started in February when one of the U.S. government agencies we report to came in for our annual inspection. If you’ve ever dealt with government regulations, you know how complex they can be. In our case, there was a misinterpretation of one of the requirements, which led to an open investigation. And if you know anything about audits, you know they come with lawyers, scrutiny, and a whole lot of stress.
On top of that, one of my reps got into an accident, shipments were delayed, and every single day felt like another wave of bad news. I found myself asking, “God, where are you?” I cried. I worried. I even started questioning if I had made a mistake starting this business in the first place.
But then, God.
In the middle of my tears, He reminded me of three powerful truths—truths that I now carry with me into every challenge. And I want to share them with you because if you’re running a business, especially one God has called you to, the enemy will try to throw every obstacle your way. But you, my friend, are more than a conqueror.
During one of my lowest moments, the Holy Spirit whispered to me: You are chosen.
1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
This hit me hard. Here I was, feeling like a failure, questioning my purpose, wondering why I was going through all this, and God reminded me: You didn’t get here by accident. I chose you for this.
And that changed everything. If God chose me, that meant He was in control. That meant He wasn’t going to leave me stranded. That meant He had already equipped me for whatever was ahead. So, I started declaring it over myself: I am chosen. I am God’s possession. He called me into this, and He will bring me through it.
Friend, you are chosen too. Whatever you’re building, whatever dream God placed in your heart—He handpicked you for it. And if He chose you, He’s already made provision for you.
The second thing the Holy Spirit reminded me was this: I am sent.
John 15:16 says, “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”
At that moment, I realized something. I wasn’t just running a business—I was sent on assignment. And when someone is sent, they have the full backing of the one who sent them.
Think about ambassadors. When they’re sent to a foreign country, they don’t have to figure things out on their own. They carry the authority and resources of their home country. That’s us! We are ambassadors of heaven, sent to do God’s work in our businesses. And if God sent us, that means He will sustain us.
So, instead of worrying about the audit, I started praying differently. I began thanking God for the exact outcome I wanted. I stopped letting fear dictate my thoughts and reminded myself: I am sent. I didn’t send myself here—God did. And because I am sent, I cannot fail.
This truth was the one that carried me through the hardest days: I have heaven’s backing.
Psalm 34:19 says, “The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.”
Each. Time.
Not sometimes. Not once in a while. Every single time.
That means no matter what happens, no matter how bad things look, God has my back. I don’t have to fight my battles alone. Heaven is backing me up.
So, when another email came in about the investigation, instead of spiraling into fear, I declared: The righteous face many troubles, but the Lord delivers them every time. I am not alone. God is with me, and He will rescue me.
And guess what? He did. Just as I had prayed, the exact outcome I asked God for came to pass. When I got the email that the audit was over and my business was cleared, I just stood there in my warehouse, praising God.
I needed that experience. It strengthened my faith. It reminded me of my identity in Christ. And it made me more confident as a kingdom entrepreneur.
Friend, I don’t know what battle you’re facing in your business, but I do know this: You are chosen. You are sent. And you have heaven’s backing.
Trials will come. Attacks will happen. But you don’t have to face them alone. Hold onto these three scriptures, declare them over your life, and remember—God will always come to your rescue.
So, take a deep breath. Stand firm in your faith. And keep building what God has called you to build. Because He’s got you.
Until next time, keep shining and keep trusting.
